Lost Stirrup Lodge High Altitude Fly-In

July 4-6, 2008

Once again, ppg pilots from across the country and overseas, will flock to the heights of Bob "Bubba" Peter's ranch in Colorado, West of Pikes Peak, for fun and games at the annual Lost Stirrup Lodge High Altitude Fly-In. Though a challenge for pilots from lower altitudes, no attending pilot has failed to earn this fly-in's coveted "High Altitude Pilot" patch. Earn yours this year simply by launching. Once in the air, flying is pretty much the same but with a slower climb rate.

The fly-in is free. No entry fees or charges for camping. Even so, Bubba's company, Kitchen Cabinet Depot, is furnishing plenty of prizes and giveaways.  You will need to bring your own RV or tent and food. Nestled in the high plains on the Ute trail of Colorado's back country, the closest store is in Canon City, nearly an hour away. Nights are in the 40's and 50's.  Days are in the 70-80's.  The scenery is spectacular.  Exploring is encouraged.

The Lost Stirrup Fly-In has been featured internationally in numerous videos including "Into The Wind" and has appeared on the front page of Aero Sports Connections Magazine.

There are two poker each year:

  • One poker run from the air.  No landing and taking back off and it's not a race.  Pilots will fly to seven large, white geoglyph symbols placed around the ranch and will have to reproduce them on paper for chances to draw cards for a winning hand. Five correct symbols for 5 cards.

  • One poker run on the ground.  Guests will make their way to local points of interest like The Dream Quest, The Buffalo Jump, The Indian Caves, The Old Trappers Cabin, The Water Falls, Crystal View, Bed Rock, Last Chance  and many others to pick up tokens qualifying them for a chance to draw the winning hand later.  Bubba and Jeanie will provide two restored Willys Jeeps, a quad and a Rhino to selected guests for the event.  Guests are welcome to bring their own 4X4's and quads.

Great prizes for the winning hands. There will also be games and giveaways all during the event.

If you're looking for a challenge, great fun and some bug free, cooler weather this summer, don't miss this event.
